First Men’s Group – Oct 17, 2024
Join in for the first men’s group meeting this Fall, featuring Chinese Food and brainstorming about what you want from future sessions. Guy Prince & Dene will be part of the group discussion.
Paddle Canada Training Course
Dates to be confirmed. Join in this Fall for canoe and kayak training from the only national skills development program. This course is open to 14+ years and all experience levels are welcome!
Yekooche Health Fair – October 22, 2024
The Yekooche Health Team will host First Nations Health Authority, Carrier-Sekani Family Services, and others to participate in our Fall Health Fair at the Jean Marie Joseph School gym.
From 11:00- 2:00 pm, community members are invited to come out and enjoy this information sharing opportunity. Learn about available services, how to better guard mental, physical, and emotional health, and how to make healthy food choices. Blood sugar checks for Diabetes screening on site.
Wilderness First Aid Training – September 9-11, 2024
In this 3-day class led by OVERhang, participants (16+) learn to how to use a problem-solving approach, the contents of their pack, and resources in their environment to stay safe in the wilderness. Improvised stretcher building and splints, and other wilderness-based scenarios make this course fun and interesting!

Wilderness Survival Training – September 16-18, 2024
Join OVERhang leaders for this 3-day survival class includes one overnighter! Participants must be 16+ to register.
Learn about survival shelters, fire building, improvised stretchers and carrying devices, problem solving, trip planning, preparation, gear, and dressing for survival. Plan for emergency management, and in case things go sideways.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) – August 28-29, 2024
Hosted at the Health Centre, the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two-day course for everyone 16 or older who wants to be able to provide suicide first aid. Lunch is provided.

Justin Young Returns – October 22-24, 2024
Justin Young returns with another 2024 workshop to speak about the group understanding of how everyone matters in the community and that we all play a role. We will be visualizing the effects we all have in our community when we work together.
Justin will also speak on Social Mapping to visualize the community as a whole and identifying the safe and unsafe spaces in our community. The workshop explores improving our understanding of these places in the community and their meaning to participants.
Annita MacPhee Workshop – Dec 4-5, 2024
Community Dinner & Lateral Violence Workshop
Dates to be confirmed. Folks will gather for a community dinner and entertaining presentation from Annita McPhee who appears on the fun ‘Cooking with Anita’ Indigenous show on YouTube.
Day two will include a full day workshop for community and staff to attend including a salmon cooking lesson and lunch. Anita will speak on the harms of lateral violence and how through lateral kindness we can heal and grow the community of Yekooche.
School Accreditation through 2029!
We are very proud to have re-certified our First Nations Schools Association accreditation through 2029. This successful audit demonstrates that we meet or exceed defined education standards and criteria for BC First Nations schools and allows us to receive full educational funding and support for our students.
Jointly with the First Nations Education Steering Committee, the FNSA support our Nation’s school with the Schools Assessment Process resource to guide our achievement of this important milestone.
