The Housing team prioritizes safety and health aspects during inspections to improve conditions and bring increased comfort to all Yekooche members. Nation self-reliance and community building are being enhanced through these current projects:

  • Exterior work during favourable weather for member, staff, and contractor sites
  • Triplex construction is well underway for six new 2 & 3 bedroom units in 2024
  • Feasibility study for Children’s Clan House transition in-community family support

Talo/Early Stuart Sockeye Conservation & Recovery Plan

This unique Stuart Sockeye migrates farthest on the Fraser River!  The Upper Fraser Fisheries Conservation Alliance is working with Yekooche, four other Nations, and both provincial and federal governments to protect the ecosystem and our future in fisheries.

PUBLIC WORKS:
COMFORT FROM THE GROUND UP

Our Public Works team also maintains all Yekooche infrastructure to meet the needs of community members and visitors. This includes normal operations as well as coordinating the Community Emergency Plan for rapid response situations with all Nation administrative functions.

Beyond housing, Nation infrastructure includes managing and creating new sustainability initiatives for water, wastewater, roads, bridges, solid waste, and Internet services for housing or community buildings such as the Health Centre and JMJ School.
